APPLICATION UNDER ARTICLE 15(1) OF THE FEDERAL CONSTITUTION [SPOUSE OF A MALAYSIAN MAN] #
REQUIREMENTS #
- Application by any married woman whose husband is a citizen.
- The marriage is still ongoing.
- The applicant has been resident in the Federation during the two (2) years preceding the date of the application and intends to do so permanently.
- The applicant is of good character.
- The marriage was registered in accordance with written laws in force in the federation.
CONDITIONS #
- The applicant and the spouse shall appear before the Registrar of Citizenship when submitting the application.
- Form A must be completed and submitted together with copies of the necessary documents.
PROCEDURE #
The applicant and the spouse are required to go to the counter of the Citizenship Division of a nearby NRD office, bringing along original and copies of required documents.

Application forms for registration of birth in a foreign country and renunciation of citizenship may be obtained from consulates abroad.

APPLICATION UNDER ARTICLE 19 OF FEDERAL CONSTITUTION – BY NATURALISATION #
CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATION #
- The applicant shall appear before the Registrar of Citizenship when submitting the application.
- The applicant must be aged 21 years and above on the date of application.
- The applicant has resided in Malaysia for not less than 10 years in a period of 12 years, including the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application.
- The applicant intends to reside permanently in the federation.
- The applicant is of good character.
- The applicant has adequate knowledge of the Malay language.
- The applicant must be sponsored by 2 referees who are citizens aged 21 years and above and who are not relatives, not hired persons, and not advocates or solicitors to the applicant.
- Form C must be completed and submitted together with copies of the necessary documents.
PROCEDURE #
The applicant is required to go to the counter at the Citizenship Division of the Putrajaya NRD Headquarters or state NRD headquarters/ branch, bring along originals and copies of the documents.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES #
These guidelines apply to the entry applications via MyTravel Pass (MTP) for
- Spouse of Malaysian
- Spouse of Malaysian Permanent Resident
- Widow of Citizen
- Divorcee
PREREQUISITES INFORMATION #
- Application to enter the abovementioned categories for those who do not possess a Visit Pass (Long Term) must apply for Social Visit Pass (Long Term) after arrival through Sistem Temujanji Online (STO) [Online Appointment at http://sto.imi.gov.my/e-temujanji/].
- The applicant must install, register and activate the MySejahtera mobile application before the departure.
- All applicants (spouses) must have registered their marriages with the Malaysian National Registration Department (JPN), State Religious Affairs Department or endorsed by the Malaysian High Commission / Embassy.
- Applicants must apply for permission to enter Malaysia with all the required documents.
- Applicants will bear all the costs of the COVID-19 test and the required quarantine procedures upon entry at the allocated quarantine stations.
- For the applicants who require a visa to enter Malaysia, you are required to obtain a visa before travelling to Malaysia. Kindly refer to the link provided for countries requiring Visa: https://www.imi.gov.my/portal2017/index.php/ms/perkhidmatan-utama/visa/keperluan-visa-mengikut-negara.html
- For holders of Social Visit Pass (Long Term) Foreign Spouses of Malaysian Citizen / MyPR Holders / Divorcee / Widow of Malaysian Citizen whose pass has expired, you can apply to enter Malaysia and renew your passes at Immigration Offices by applying through Sistem Temujanji Online (STO)
- All appointments with the Malaysian Immigration Department have to be done via Sistem Temujanji Online (STO) at http://sto.imi.gov.my/e-temujanji/.
- Immigration will then provide you with a Special Pass upon Entry which is valid for 30 days to be referred at the nearest Immigration Department (Visa, Pass and Permit) to proceed with Visit Pass (Long Term) spouse of citizen application.

PROCESS #
- Documents and information to be provided by the applicant for online application (to be uploaded) into the form.
- Approval/ denial will be informed via e-mail.
THINGS TO TAKE NOTE OF UPON ARRIVAL IN MALAYSIA #
- You must check in through the MySejahtera mobile application upon your arrival.
- You are required to present your passport and approval letter/ MTP Approval during immigration clearance at the point of entry.
- You are required to undertake a COVID-19 PCR/ RTK-Antigen at point of entry (applicable only for KLIA, KLIA2 and Penang International Airport) or within 24 hours post-arrival in Malaysia (applicable when you land at other international airports), at your own cost.
- If you test positive for the COVID-19 test, you will be directed to the necessary medical treatment by the Government of Malaysia.
- If you test negative for the COVID-19 test, you will be directed to the allocated Quarantine Centre by NADMA and the cost will be fully borne by you.
Note: All applicants are subjected to effective immigration procedures, rules and regulations during immigration clearance at the point of entry. An applicant who fails to comply will be denied entry.
IMPORTANT NOTE #
- Entry into Malaysia is subject to approval and Immigration’s’ vetting. The approval is not given automatically.
- Approval granted is only for SINGLE JOURNEY. Applicants who wish to exit the country DO NOT need to apply for permission to leave the country.
- If the Applicant gives incorrect/ inaccurate information, an amendment cannot be made and the applicant has to re-make the application.
- Submission of fraudulent documents will result in a stern action taken under Immigration Act 1959/63, including not permitted to enter Malaysia.
- A non-Malaysian applicant is required to bear the cost of the COVID-19 test and quarantine charges before arrival in Malaysia.
