Short Term Social Visit Pass #
A social visit pass is issued to a foreign individual travelling to Malaysia for certain purposes (mainly short visits and tourism purposes).
The number of days foreign individuals are allowed to stay in Malaysia depends as following:
- Visa-free entry to Malaysia for 90 days – e.g. EU countries, United Kingdom, United States etc.
- Visa-free entry to Malaysia for 30 days – e.g. Most of the ASEAN countries, Hong Kong, Palestine etc.
- Visa-free entry to Malaysia for 14 days – e.g. Iran and Libya
- Required Visa to Malaysia for 30 days – e.g. Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh, India etc.
Requirements #
- Applicants must appear in person together with passport
- Form IMM.55
- Supporting documents (if relevant)
- Confirmed ticket to home country or in possession of a visa and ticket to a third country
Social Visit Pass Extention Application #
Extended applications will be considered for special cases such as illness, accident, war in the visitor’s home country and so on. Visitors are also required to present evidence and also a travel ticket to their home country or to a third country.
Note: #
- Contact/ head over to the nearest Immigration Office to seek advice on what is needed.
- Be prepared with legitimate reasons for your overstay (e.g.: a medical letter / report; or any other proof of why you need to overstay) and the estimated duration you need to stay longer.
- The Immigration Officer will advise what your options and penalties (if any) are for overstaying depending on your situation.
Long Term Social Visit Pass #
A Long-Term Social Visit Pass may be issued to a foreigner for temporary stay in Malaysia for a period of not less than 6 months.
Extension can be given based on the eligibility and fulfilling the required conditions.
Eligibility #
Any legitimate child of a Malaysian citizen aged 7 and below can apply for the LTSVP
Required documents #
- Form IMM.12
- Form IMM.38
- Photocopy of all pages of your child’s passport that has any stamps/ visas;
- 2 passport-sized photographs (blue background) of your child (some mothers have noted that the picture is either directly taken at immigration or with white background. Please check with the immigration office prior to arrangements);
- Parent’s Identification Card
- Children’s Birth Certificate
- Court Order of child custody (child under 18 years)
- Photocopy of the parents’ marriage certificate verified by JPN (for Malaysia-registered marriages) / verified by your respective Embassy (over overseas-registered marriages)
- Photocopy of foreign parent’s passport (front page and any Malaysian visa)
- Parent’s Death Certificate (if required)
- Confirmation / Certification of Status from the National Registration Department.
Note: #
- Please ensure your documents that are not available in English are translated into English and verified by your respective Embassy.
- Some mothers have stated that ‘sponsor with proof of income’ is required.
